An Urgent Message from Mayor Shane Nickerson

As the Coronavirus affects people throughout the United States, I would like to ask for your help in keeping each other safe and not adding to the spread of the virus. I want to be clear, at this time, we have no known cases of the virus in Tioga county, but it is a real possibility that we eventually could.

It is very important to remember that you can become infected by touching your eyes, nose or mouth with your hands or by direct cough or sneeze.

Older adults and people with chronic medical conditions seem to be at higher risk. Please remember, just because you may not feel sick, you are capable of spreading the virus if you have it.

I am asking every Blossburg resident to use the following precautions to keep us all safe and healthy during this pandemic.
Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer and disinfect frequently touched areas of your home such as door knobs, light switches, tv remotes, game controllers, telephones, etc.

If you or a family member feel sick or have symptoms of the virus, such as fever, cough or shortness of breath, please call your health care provider or 1-877-PA-HEALTH to discuss your symptoms.
There are more resources available at the Center for Disease Control website: CDC.org
or on the Blossburg Borough website: blossburgborough.org.

Today, Governor Tom Wolf announced that all k-12 school in PA will be closed for the next 2 weeks.

I will keep you updated through the borough website, Facebook page and phone calls as needed.

I know that some might say that during a pandemic or a stressful situation, it brings out the worst in people. I choose to believe that it brings out the best in us. Please check in on your neighbors and Thank you for doing your part.

Mayor, Shane Nickerson
